TIP Academy

Welcome to the TIP Academy website

Theory into Practice Academy is a public charter school in Encinitas, California that embraces the academically rigorous California GATE Standards for all students. Our program is open to all students, giving parents a choice in public education. Our belief is that both gifted and other students can and will exceed beyond mastery of the basic curriculum if they are provided learning experiences designed to meet their needs. We realize that some students are atypical learners who require differentiated learning experiences to excel. Our highly qualified faculty uses curriculum that we have developed to promote critical and creative thinking, interdisciplinary learning and higher levels of knowledge through depth and complexity. One of our major goals is for our students to be able to make connections between learning and their needs, interests and abilities in order to become self-directed learners.

Students at TIP Academy strive to exemplify scholarly behaviors: coming to school motivated and prepared to learn, setting long and short-term goals and exhibiting both curiosity and academic humility. We nurture children’s innate intellectual abilities by challenging every student every day with a dynamic curriculum that makes them think, not just learn. 

August 25, 2008 Update

After two years of a highly successful, rich academic program, TIP Academy's charter was revoked by the Encinitas Union School District on August 5, 2008. The TIP Board of Directors would like to thank the many staff, students and families who helped this school make such a difference in the lives of so many students, and we wish all of our supporters well.
